SIAM Meeting June 26, 2021

Next meeting:  June 26th, 10:00 a.m. at West Franklin Historical Society, 2130 Schoolhouse Rd, Mulkeytown, IL

Presentation Title:  “Museum Money Matters: Funding Your Mission.”

Money:  Nobody likes talking about it.  Everyone worries about it.  Our visions can’t become reality without it.

This program will cover all aspects of money management and your museum. In an interactive program, we’ll discuss revenue streams, fundraising, planned giving, investments, grants, and much more about your museum and its financial fitness.

It will be a one-hour program with activities, time for questions, and resources you can use.

Will Shannon is the Curator/Executive Director of the St. Clair County Historical Society in Belleville, Illinois, a position he’s held since 2012. His academic background is in history, museum studies, and nonprofit management.  He currently serves as the Secretary of the Illinois State Historical Society and Chair of its Assets Management Committee.

The Meeting will be held in the Cafeteria, masks will be required if you are not vaccinated.

Board Meeting to be held at 9:00 a.m.

Swap Meet and meeting at 10:00  Bring the items you have to give to other museums.  Call or e-mail them before hand to let them know.  We hope this will increase attendance.

Workshop at 10:15

Lunch on your own after the workshop.  If anyone wants to group up for lunch, some of us are up for that.

We still need additional board members and officers.  There is no vice president or secretary at this time and no zone director for region 1, or 3.  Right now we have no museums members in Marion, Edwards, Hamilton, Gallatin, Hardin, Pope, Pulaski, Clinton, Marion, Lawrence or Clay Counties.  Does anyone know if there are museums in those counties?  Please bring contact information for those museums to the next meeting.
